What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

There’s something about fall colors that make an outfit feel so festive for Thanksgiving. Whether you want to color coordinate with the leaves, or just want a comfy outfit that lets you eat to your heart’s content, here are some ideas for Thanksgiving outfits.

First up, this corduroy skirt with a cardigan and booties. These colors are exactly what I think of when I think Thanksgiving. The skirt makes the look polished while the cardigan keeps it cozy enough for a post-turkey nap. The booties are perfect for a casual event, but if you’re going to a dressier occasion, you can easily swap them for pumps. You can recreate this autumn-inspired look with any burnt orange or mustard colored skirt, or snag this exact skirt from Shein. I styled the skirt with a brown tank I scored from Marshalls, but here is a similar one available online. The cardigan is one of my favorites from Target – I love it so much I own two colors.

A second option for a Thanksgiving outfit is a sweater dress. Last week, I shared one way to style a sweater dress. I think pairing a sweater dress with boots is a great Thanksgiving outfit idea. The dress makes the look seem elevated, even though it’s actually super cozy. Sweater dresses are perfect for Thanksgiving because they are stretchy, so you can eat all the things without having to loosen any buttons for more room!

A sweater dress can easily be dressed down, too, if paired with flat booties, like these pictured above, from Target. My husband and I are not traveling for Thanksgiving this year, so we’ll cook a Thanksgiving lunch at home before heading to a friend’s house for a late dinner. I love Thanksgiving foods and I know I will definitely overeat, so a sweater dress is the perfect choice since it is so forgiving – I can eat all I want and still be comfy.

For more Thanksgiving outfit inspiration, I’ve created a couple collages with options for both dressy and casual styles. I included some great fall-colored dresses and sweater dresses if you are dressing up. If you’re keeping it casual, I’ve linked some cardigans, sweaters and shackets. You can find all styles linked here.

I’d love to hear what you have planned for Thanksgiving. No matter what type of event you’re going to, I hope these looks help you find the perfect outfit to wear to Thanksgiving dinner!

Love always,

Raelene
