Outerwear Trend: Quilted Jackets

Jacket, T-shirt, Booties: Target; Jeans: Old Navy

I’ve shared a lot about Shackets being a big trend this season, but another outerwear trend I’m loving is the quilted jacket. Credit goes to Free People for making this look trendy, but don’t worry, if $198 for a jacket is out of your budget (mine, too), then continue reading to find some great budget-friendly dupes.

I first tried the quilted jacket trend with a cognac colored piece from Walmart. The quality is great, especially for $20! The color is the perfect neutral shade that matches almost anything. I love a quilted jacket when you need a layer over a casual look. I’m sorry to report that the one I got at Walmart is sold out (linked here in case it restocks), but I’ve since fallen in love with another quilted jacket.

In fact, I’ve fallen so hard for this one from Target, that I bought it in two colors! This one is extra cozy – the quilt is slightly more plush than the first jacket I got. Another plus is that this one has a hood! It also has really large pockets and elastic bands on the sleeves, which means I don’t have to cuff them up – I’m sure fellow short-armed people can appreciate that.

Quilted jackets are a comfy piece that you should definitely add to your closet. I’ve already gotten a lot of use out of the ones I own. I often throw them on when I’m running errands. I think a quilted jacket pairs really well with jeans, as pictured here, but you could also style it with an oversized t-shirt and leggings.

Several retailers have created their version of the quilted jacket. I’ve linked a few affordable options below, including a second version from Target! Forever21 has plenty different styles to choose from – long, short, with or without a hood, and lots of colors. Is this trend something you’d try? If you’ve already picked one up, I’d love to hear how you’re liking it!

Love always,
